Realms

COEURILE
The realm of Lumnos is the central setting for much of the story, where power, politics, and class divisions shape everyday life. Governed by a complex system of noble Houses, Lumnos operates through alliances, rivalry, and constant competition for influence rather than a single, absolute ruler. Its people possess the ability to control light and darkness, a power that reflects both the beauty and tension within the realm. Society is deeply divided between the Descended and mortals, with the Descended living in wealth and privilege while mortals are restricted to poorer, heavily controlled districts. This sharp contrast defines Lumnos as a land where status determines opportunity, and where political power and social hierarchy are tightly intertwined.

ARBOROS
The realm of Arboros is known as the realm of root and thorn, where dense forests and fertile land sustain life across Emarion. Its people possess the ability to communicate with and conjure plant life, allowing them to cultivate food and harvest powerful medicinal herbs. Arboros serves as the primary source of nourishment and healing for the continent, making it essential to every other realm. Though its culture is more relaxed and welcoming—especially toward mortals—it remains part of the same hierarchy, where the Descended ultimately hold power.

SOPHOS
The realm of Sophos is known as the intellectual center of Emarion, where knowledge, innovation, and discipline shape both culture and power. Its people possess abilities tied to electricity and perfect memory, allowing them to advance technology and research far beyond the other realms. Society is highly competitive, with intelligence seen as a measure of worth, driving individuals to pursue academic excellence and gain access to prestigious institutions. While Sophos is often viewed as arrogant, it remains one of the most advanced and diverse realms, selectively welcoming the most intelligent individuals from across Emarion.

IGNIOS
The realm of Ignios is a harsh desert land where survival is shaped by both environment and power. Its people wield control over sand and fire, abilities that reflect the unforgiving nature of the realm itself. Governed by a ruthless monarchy, Ignios enforces strict exclusion, with mortals banned entirely and often left to die if they cross its borders. Over time, this has created a culture where power is tied to superiority, and where the right to live within the realm is determined by lineage rather than humanity.

UMBROS
The realm of Umbros is a shadowed land carved into black rock canyons, where perpetual night and secrecy define both its landscape and culture. Its people possess the ability to read and control minds, making information and manipulation as powerful as any weapon. Unlike most realms, Umbros allows mortals and the Descended to live and work alongside one another, creating a diverse and unpredictable society. Though often feared for its chaos and moral ambiguity, Umbros offers a rare kind of freedom, where survival depends more on wit and awareness than status alone.

FORTOS
The realm of Fortos is defined by discipline, structure, and military power. Its people possess the ability to heal or inflict rapid decay, a duality that reflects both restoration and destruction. Ruled directly by a king, Fortos operates under a strict hierarchy where obedience and control are central to both governance and daily life. As the primary base for the army that serves all nine realms, Fortos plays a critical role in enforcing order and maintaining the power of the Descended across Emarion.

MONTIOS
The realm of Montios is defined by its harsh, mountainous terrain of rock, ice, and snow, reflecting the strength and endurance of its people. Its natives wield control over these elements, using their power to shape both the land and their survival within it. Though less is known about its inner workings, Montios is understood as a resilient and formidable realm, where strength and adaptability are essential to life.

FAUNOS
The realm of Faunos is defined by its deep connection to animal life, where its people can communicate with and conjure creatures of all kinds. Animals are treated with equal, and often greater, value than people, creating a culture built on respect for the natural hierarchy of life. While this bond fosters harmony with nature, it also results in mortals being seen as lesser, placing them at the bottom of Faunos’ social order.

MEROS
The realm of Meros is known as the domain of sea and sky, where its people wield control over wind and water. Home to Emarion’s largest and busiest port, it is a lively, fast-paced realm shaped by sailing, trade, and a culture that values freedom and indulgence. Despite its energetic and social atmosphere, Meros is not welcoming to mortals, maintaining clear boundaries between those with power and those without.
