Their sigil is a human skull with a chain around it’s throat, which reinforces their unsettling reputation, and symbolizes their mental domination and treacherous power.

Umbros exists carved inside a mountain made of black rock and is cursed to dwell in perpetual night. The lack of natural light creates an atmosphere that feels constantly shadowed and uncertain. The dark markets reside within the mountain canyons and are described as a chaotic network of shops and vendors that sell anything imaginable. The markets are known for selling contraband, forbidden items, and illicit services. Through this chaos, the Queen thrives. She is careless about frivolous rules that many of the other realms concern themselves with. But she does have one rule that remains absolute: any earnings received through the market must give her a cut. Since this marketplace is the one place that is audacious enough to sell anything a person could want, it has become one of the most vibrant and dangerous hubs in Emarion. Many people travel from across the continent to attain what only Umbros has the guts to sell.

Life in Umbros is unpredictable but strangely alive. Unlike many other realms that maintain restricted rules, Umbros thrives on movement, secrecy, and opportunity. Its people are known to be observant, calculating, and highly aware of the motives of people around them. Their power and culture was built on secrets, which has forced people to learn to be cautious and perceptive. Loyalty tends to run deep among trusted allies, but trust itself is not easily given. Umbros citizens are often described as clever, resourceful, and pragmatic. They understand the value of information and have built a society where knowledge and secrets can be as powerful as elemental magic.

While most realms in Emarion enforce strict class divides between the Descended and humans, Umbros evolved into more of a melting pot for both. Mortals are permitted to live and work alongside the Descended, as equals. This makes umbros the most diverse realm of them all, which attracts outsiders and expelled traders into a land of freedom. Though the life in Umbros does not come easy, as survival often depends on wit, skill, and the ability to navigate its complex society.

Umbros is a strange contradiction. To outsiders, it appears to be a lawless and frightening place, filled with manipulation, illegal trade, and dangerous magic. Yet for many who live there, it represents something rare in Emarion: freedom. Umbros may still be a dangerous enigma, where people can read thoughts, manipulate minds, and trade in secrets, but beneath the shadows lies a realm far more complex than its reputation assumes. What appears to be depravity from the outside, may simply be a realm that challenges Emarion’s rigid class system, creating space for freedom, diversity, and opportunity in ways the other realms refuse to allow.
